The 5 main steps I took as I redefined my relationship with money 💖

Here are the 5 steps I took at the beginning of my money-healing journey to healing my relationship with money for good:
1) Admit you have a problem: You cannot begin your money-healing journey if you cannot admit that your spending habits are problematic. If you're here reading this email you may have already taken this step. It's by far the hardest step, so be easy on yourself 🥶
2) Understand that it's about your habits: I stopped telling myself that I just needed to make more money and my money problems would go away. I have made between $50,000 and $200,000 in a year and let me tell you: I ended up broke in both scenarios 💫
3) Start a budget: I didn't start my first budget until I was 30 years old. I wish I had started one a decade ago. I have a spending budget of $1250 per month, which is for groceries, coffee, eating out, amazon, misc, and nails 💅. I track my budget in an app that is called: “Buddy: Budget & Save Money”
4) Track your expenses: Before I started tracking my expenses, I had literally NO clue how much I was spending per month on recurring expenses. I created a Google Sheet so that I could have an overview of my expenses, income, and debt. I spent a weekend just looking through past purchases to get a sense of what bills I had to pay, and what I had some control over (like groceries, amazon and subscriptions) 📊
5) Therapy: If you are in a position to afford therapy - I highly suggest it. There is SUCH an emotional component to overspending and problematic spending habits and it has been so helpful for me to work through my money-healing journey with a therapist 🧘🏼♀️.
