Join the Rebellion this Black Friday ๐๏ธโ
Full transparency: I wrestled with writing this blog during Black Friday week. But then I realized - when better to offer you a lifeline from the tsunami of holiday spending? ๐โจ
Hard truth: Going-it-alone might be the reason your financial picture is not what you want it to be. ๐ธ
What happens in you when you notice others being intentional about their money? ๐ค
When my friend only buys the one thing at Ikea she's planned forโฆ ๐
When a family member leaves a toxic work environment with great payโฆ ๐โโ๏ธ๐ผ
When my son is debating between contributing his allowance to climate change activism or a video gameโฆ๐๐ฎ
โฆ we feel less alone in the unending decision-process about "making the right money moves".๐ญ๐ก
When I'm supported, I can go against the grain feeling empowered, not like I'm restricting myself. ๐ช
Let me share a story: When I was a kid, my school had a "father/son day" to do repairs. That Saturday morning, my dad told me to get my work gloves.๐ท๐ฝโโ๏ธ I was filled with righteousness, but I also felt exposed being the only girl there. It would have been so powerful if we had coordinated just one other family with a daughter to show up and make a point. ๐ญ
I compare that cool-but-isolating experience to political campaigns I've volunteered for and my training in financial therapyโฆ going out on a limb has a lot more protection and energy when you're surrounded by other brave folks.
And, listen to me, getting good with money is an act of rebellion.๐ธโ
These upcoming weeks, we'll be tested again and again to "join in" on the consumerism that is the Hallmark (ahem) of the season.
