The first practical step I have all my clients do💸
When you're ready to finally figure out the answer to the age old question, where does my money go?? I'll tell you where to start: 🌟 (and read to the end for a free gift from me!🎁)
Subscriptions.💸
Subscriptions are the sneakiest expense, since they are often relatively cheap, “wow, only $15 a month?!”, and/or appeal to our fantasy selves “I get these great online workouts for only $53 a month, that's way less than the gym!” 😃
I start my clients and Club members with subscriptions because they are the lowest hanging fruit to get monthly expenses down. It's usually pretty clear if you should keep or cancel them. 😊
My current examples:
Netflix: Keep! I'm really good at watching good television! Helps me unwind.🌙📺
Video editing app: Cancel! I'm actually not doing as much social media as I thought when I signed up. I can let go of that fantasy version of myself. 🙅♀️
How to find your subscriptions?
👩🏽💻Option 1: Open up your last credit card statements and simply read through them. Sometimes subscriptions show up with weird parent company names and you have to look them up.
🚀Option 2: Use an app like Rocket Money (I am not a sponsor), which is good at identifying subscriptions and will cancel them for you for a fee, or you can do it yourself.
💥Option 3: THE NUCLEAR OPTION. Report your card/cards as lost or stolen to your credit card company. All recurring changes will stop immediately and you'll get a card with a new number. You'll start getting emails about updating your credit cards with all the companies which is a good moment to ask yourself, “do I value this enough to enter my new credit card number?”. Our cards are stored away in so many corners of the internet, this Option is great if your saved payment methods have run amok and it's just tooooo easy to buy.
🎁And my gift to you! Here's a google sheet for you to organize your subscriptions to decide which to keep and cancel, and see what they're really costing you. This is a sample of the larger workbook you get when you join the Club.
It's read only, so Make a copy to save on your Google Drive.
Reply and let me know how much you've cancelled! If a lot of you reply, I'll keep a running tab and let y'all know how much we're collectively saving!
One subscription at a time. You can do this.
I'm always believing in you.
